Updating my billing, am connected to XBL.. but no friends list?

it's been a few weeks since I was able to renew my membership, but I log in today and update it, and get signed in to XBL. I can tell I'm on XBL because I can watch the videos on the dashboard and what not, but when I bring up my friends list, it's entirely blank. Scroll over to the party screen, and it says it's blocked.

 

Whats going on?

Are you sure you obtained GOLD membership?

Wouldn't it be instant? There's plenty of cash in the bank account of the debit card, and I entered it when I updated it.. but it still says my service is interupted? Is a "wait a little bit and let them process it" thing?

Hey mate, please try recovering your Gamertag to the console, to see if that resolves the issue.

How would I go about doing that if it's on there already? Do I delete it and then do it?

Firstly delete your profile (remember to "delete profile only" and NOT "delete profile and items"). Then when you hit the guide button, there will be an option to recover gamertag. Click that and follow the instructions and see if it works.
