Can't sign in via dashboard, can't exit to dashboard once signed in

 

Since yesterday everytime I try to sign into my profile via the dashboard as soon as the "signing in" message disappears the dashboard immediately crashes. If I load up a game I can sign into my profile inside the game and play online without any problems- however when i exit back to the dashboard, instead of the dashboard appearing i just get a black screen and need to turn off/reboot the xbox.

Any ideas as to my problem? Thanks.

This sorta happens to me. I can't sign in to Xbox LIVE when I'm on the Dashboard , but I can sign in if I go to black Ops or other games. But my screen doesn't turn black

There are two things to try off the bat here. First, try clearing your cache, to see if that makes any improvement.

Clear system cache
System Settings > Memory > Highlight HDD, Press (Y) > Clear System Cache > Yes

If that doesn't do the trick, try recovering your gamertag.
