Did I ask about the warranty???? My xbox is over 4 years old anyway, so the warranty is out of date

You can contact Australian Xbox phone support, and arrange to get an Australian "power brick" which will allow you to play your Xbox in Australia.
A separate issue is you won't be able to play most games sold in Australia because Australian games are in PAL format, while a US Xbox is NTSC format.

If the game is region free, it'll work on the 360.
If the display device supports US HDTV standards, it'll work with the 360. Look for 720p60 or 1080p30/1080p60 support on the TV you plan to use.
PAL/NTSC shouldn't be an issue. The 360's HANA chip will convert anything to a US HDTV standard output.
