80151911

I can connect to Xbox live through "test Xbox live connection" but I'm not signed in. When I go to sign in it is successful but it disconnects me from Xbox live saying "your console cannot connect to Xbox live at this time" why the error code 80151991. I cannot find any info on this error code. So to sum up. I can connect to Xbox live and sign in but not at the same time which is very annoying

hello Whitestar48, sorry to hear your having connections problems what I can recommend you do is clear your system cache under settings, system, storage, under hard drive in stead of pressing A press Y and you will see device options the second option should be clear system cache do this about 3 times then turn off your xbox for about 1min. if this doesn't work delete your profile just your profile from your console and download it again. this should help out as well. if this doesn't help either call xbox support and ask to be transferred to connectivity.

I hope this helps :)

Hey there WHITESTAR!

Let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

Since everything on the Network Connection Test goes through without issue, it seems like the issue might lie with your profile. Let's try giving that a redownload to see if that helps. I suggest giving these steps a shot:

Let us know how that goes and we'll work with you from there! ^_^

Greetings Whitestar!

Try the instructions steps as per Mister Cerb's post and let us know how that goes.

The error code you are getting (80151911) points to a problem with corrupted data on the hard drive, and where the very last solution is to format the xbox's storage device.

Note! This is the very last solution one should try when everything else have failed.

I would not recommend that you do this on your own without first contact Xbox LIVE support and have them instruct you how to do this properly.

Contact Xbox LIVE support

Keep us posted!

Xbox live support was no help. He just asked me to do what I've already done, 45mins later he has to send me off to someone higher to respond the issue. I was told I would they would get back to me. This was a week ago, and there is no chance I'm getting my lost days of Xbox gold back so I need this sorted asap

Hi Star,

Man that's no good. Well if they have escalated your case you should be in good hands.

I do have one last solution I would suggest trying. It may be a long shot, but I have seen it work before:

  •  Change the MTU setting on your router to the value 1500.

If you need help doing this, please post back with your modem & router make/model # and we can walk you through it.  : )

Do you have the built-in flash memory (4 GB) version of your console?

Have you tried using a USB drive instead of the hard drive as the primary storage device. Configure a USB for use with the Xbox 360. Safely remove the hard drive (with your console powered off) and plug in the USB drive. Power on the Xbox and let us know if the error code has gone away.
