Error "Invalid Certificate" when trying to access internet.

Original Title: invalid certficate XP 2001

New computer in shop, so using old 2001 XP.  Can get internet, but INVALID CERTIFICATE sign keeps popping up.  What should I do?

Answer
Answer

Two conditions that can cause this.  One is that you computer is set to the wrong date and/or time.  Verify that your correct time zone is set on your computer and that the date / time is within about 5 minutes of the correct time.

Second, you may have old certificates that need to be updated.  Go to the following website:
" Windows Root Certificate Program Members"

and click on the link in the paragraph "Root Update Package (intended for Windows XP only)".  After downloading the update, double-click on it to install.
