ISDone.dll Error

I've been through a lot of ISDone.dll errors, i notice that some of them report different error codes. Such as: Unarc.dll returned an error code: -7 or Unarc.dll returned an error code: -1 or Unarc.dll returned an error code: -12. Can anyone tell me what those codes mean? and how are we going to use them to diagnose the corresponding errors? Maybe by understanding them, we can easily fix the issue...

Thanks.

Hello Harry,

I can understand the inconvenience caused to you. I will certainly help you with this issue.

These error occurs when you download some archive from the Internet or try to install some downloaded game. This could also happen due any program or application running on the computer at the back ground or due to some errors in the hard drive of the computer.

Let me ask you;

  1. Did you make any recent hardware/software changes into your computer?

  2. When do you get these error messages?

I would suggest you to follow these methods below and check if you are still getting the errors.

Method 1: Perform Clean Boot.

Boot the computer in clean boot state and check the issue.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

If the issue still persists, follow the method 2.

Method 2: Re-register the ISDone.dll file and check if it fixes the issue.

    1. Press Windows + X key on the keyboard.

    2. Select Control panel (administrator).

    3. Type the following commands regsvr32 Isdone.dll.

    4. Press Enter key.

I would request you to try the suggestion above as of now and get back to us with answers to the questions asked, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Hi Isha, thanks for the reply!

I'm currently having problem with the code: -7. Everytime I try to install a software by running a setup, it shows that specific error (during the unpacking archives process). I'm assuming that the software is corrupted when I downloaded it from the web, but my download progress shows a 100% complete and no error.

I certainly installed some programs before but no hardware changes, only I couldn't recall which program exactly that may cause me this error.

I've tried to re-register the ISDone.dll and unfortunately it didn't work out. I notice that my system32 folder and sysWOW64 do not contain any ISDone.dll. I'm guessing that's why the re-registration didn't work. Is there any way to download the ISDone.dll from microsoft site which is compatible with my Windows version? By installing some Windows Update perhaps???

I'm trying the clean boot now, I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Hello Harry,

Thank you for keeping us updated on the status of the issue and apology for the delayed response.

I would suggest you to run System File Checker scan.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. This article describes how to run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files in Windows 8.1

Hi Amit! Thanks for the reply.

Is that the file checker scan we need to perform from Command Prompt you're suggesting? I've tried it and unfortunately it didn't work. Well, I performed sfc /scannow from Command Prompt with administrator privilege and it did run a deep scan, however, it didn't fix anything when the progress completed. It only refers a log called .cbs or something (I couldn't recall). And yes, I was connected to the internet when it performed a deep scan, I presumed it'd automatically fix my problem by downloading necessary files from the web.

How do I use that .cbs log to assist in solving my problem?
