Hi Buck,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Administrator is a user type that can make system wide changes. Usually if you can install a program, that means you have admin rights.

When you try to install a program, you would normally be asked to press yes or no. What exact error you hit?

Hello,

Have you recently tried to enable built-in Administrator account?

Do you own the computer? Have you already looked at Settings>Accounts? Who is showing as the Administrator?

Hi Buck,

I understood. Please see the following article:

https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/locked-user-...

You can try a system restore from Windows as a first step. If it doesn't work, use Windows Recovery environment.

I was trying to install the software for a brother printer, and when I click on the run.exe, I get a dialogue box that asks for my administrator name or password, with no place to put it and only a no button, which then exits the program

I have tried but it wont let me anywhere close to the administrator account, this has all happened since my window 10 updates over the last 6 months, I used to turn on my computer and didn't have to have a password to get on but now all of a sudden it wants a password or id number
