Hi Eliza,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10!

As per the issue description, I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if they are helpful.

a) Press Windows Key + R combination, type put regedit in Run dialog box and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

b) Navigate here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Scaling

c) At this registry location and in the right pane of above shown window, look for the MonitorSize named registry string. Please note that this registry key is not available in non-touch based computers. The incorrect Value data for the MonitorSize registry string is the root cause behind this issue. Double click on same string to modify it.

d) Finally, in the Edit String box, put a decimal data such as 22.5. Click OK. Close Registry Editor, reboot and your problem should be fixed after restarting machine.

Registry disclaimer: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: KB 322756

I tried this fix, but my registry does not contain an entry for scaling under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\.

I see the touch keyboard icon on my Surface Pro taskbar, but nothing happens when I click it.

I have an SPro 4 and have encountered this issue. The icon is on the taskbar and nothing happens if I click on it. I also have no entry for scaling.

I have the exact same problem as the two people above me, and I have an Acer model computer. When I first got the computer it was working fine. I've only had it for a few months and now the onscreen keyboard will not work.
