Convert .SNX image files (Second Nature"

I have hundreds of purchased .SNX image files, from the now-defunct Second Nature screen saver.

I used them successfully for years.  But now I find that Second Nature will not work with Windows 10.

None of my programs will recognize .SNX.

Two solutions:  (1) find a way to use Second Nature in Windows 10. or

(2)  Find a program that will convert .SNX files to .JPG (or whatever).

Google and Cortana have been no help.

Anyone out there in the MS Community with an answer?

Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

I will be glad to help you with the issue you have with the computer. I understand the frustration when things don't work the way it should.

Install the program in Compatibility Mode.

Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow these steps to install the program in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

a. Download the program.

b. Right-click on the program setup file and click on ‘properties’.

c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Please reply with the results, I will be glad to help you.

Thank you.

Actually, Second Nature works just fine with Windows 10 ... although it might take a little tweaking.  Basically, the procedure is as follows:

1. Install a fresh copy of one of the various Second Nature samplers (preferably with the latest version of the Second Nature software - 4.4.7 or 4.4.8?).  Although the installation app will ask you for an email address, it's not used to validate anything, so the installation will work just fine.

2. You should have already saved your unpacked collections - they were originally stored in a subdirectory called "Images".  Replace the "Images" subdirectory under the new "Second Nature" folder that you just installed with the previously saved "Images" subdirectory and then start the program.  Select one of the pictures to be the new wallpaper.

3.  Go to the Windows customization page, then choose the Lock Screen option.  At the bottom of the page is a selection for "Screensaver".  Select that, and tou will see that one of the drop-down options will be "Second Nature".

Hope this helps ...

They put a new sampler out that did not need an email at startup of the sampler before they closed, it works with 10 on my laptop. You will need to edit your Slideshw.ini file in windows with the name of your collections. Copy your collection to the hard drive (usually it is in C:\SLIDESHW\Images.)If the file names of your collection does not match your ini file, your collection will not work. Also to convert .snx Second Nature files to .jpeg Serif photo Plus works great.
