Excellent instructions, I like the screenshots. Unfortunately this did not help me as I still have the message ....DNS server that is incorrect or doesn't exist....

Going back to properties shows the DNS I input is still there. Network icon still shows me connected to the Livebox (strong connection) With security WPA2-PSK but no internet access. Will contact service provider now "orange" to see if they can help further .

Thank you.

Thank you thank you so much. I couldn't access some websites. It kept saying DNS not detected. I tried a few different things but nothing worked until I found your straightforward explanation on changing the settings. Well done and thank you again.

In practice, it's better to change the DNS address in the router, rather than in Windows itself, when your LAN contains more than one computer.  That way, all systems in the LAN will benefit.

There's also a great FREE tool called "DNS Benchmark" for locating the fastest DNS servers for your connection.  Find it at https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm.  It requires no installation.

This problem just started for me - more aggravating than I have words for.  Where do I find new DNS addresses?

Thanks!
