Cannot print from Mail in Windows 10

Since my upgrade to Windows 10 I am unable to print an email from my Mail app to my HP OfficeJet printer.

I can print to this printer from any other app including from the Edge Browser and I have even added it again from scratch to double check but nothing prints.

If I print whilst the print queue window is open I see the document momentarily hit the print queue but then disappears.

I can print from Mail to OneNote2013 successfully and from there I can print to my HP printer so this is my temporary workaround.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Had the same problem. When I clicked on the Outlook "more commands" ("...") and then clicked on print, attempting to print from the resulting page sent the image to my DOCUMENTS folder. I could not print it either. However at the top  of the Outlook.com Print Message - Print window on the left is a selection drop-dow. I had to re-select my printer from the list (faxes; printers; etc.) and now it prints normally!

Hope this works.

Thanks for replying however that is not the nature of my problem.

The drop down to select the printer device is a standard feature.

As per my original post I had selected my HP printer correctly from this dropdown and the document could even been seen momentarily hitting the print queue for this device therefore confirming I had selected the right device.

However the document then disappears (as it would do after successful printing) but nothing prints.

I even tried completely reinstalling the printer but the same thing happens.

I do not have another printer to test, however when I select print to OneNote2013, this does work as expected.

I not only had this failure to be able to print from Mail in Windows 10 but when I upgraded from 8.1,  I lost my old mail program, all my contacts I laboriously accumulated GONE,  and I used to be able to switch back and forth between two email addresses and now only can see the one, and have to go to Webmail to see the other one.   What I've ended up having to do now is if I want to print out an email, I have to forward it to my Webmail email account and print it from there.  I think Mail in Windows 10 SUCKS big time.

Since my upgrade to Windows 10 I am unable to print an email from my Mail app to my Epson NX410.

I can print to this printer from any other app including from the Edge Browser and this is my temporary work around.

Hope that MS will fix this problem soon because it is a bloody nuisance and puts a real dent in the otherwise pleasant MS upgrade.

Any ideas would be welcome.

So it seems quite a lot of us who rushed into Windows 10 fell into the same trap. Microsoft needs to solve this problem and solve it fast.  Something else about this crippled Mail program that I ended up with is I cannot find its address book of contacts, nor a way to add a contact to one if it existed.  My old Mail worked just fine - now I've lost all my regular contacts and even if they send me their Email addresses, I don't know how to save them ?

I too have had this problem since updating to Windows 10.  The way I fixed my problem was to replace my existing printer driver with the driver contained in Windows 10 for my printer. Apparently the existing printer driver previously installed back when I had earlier versions of Windows was not fully compatible with Windows 10.  I am embarrassed by the fact that I have forgotten  exactly the sequences leading to how I managed to do this but I do recall going through Control Panel to the printers section and somehow I was able to select an option to use the existing driver or replace it with the driver that comes with Windows 10.  I selected the driver from Windows 10 option and voila, it works perfectly.  I now have a new "Copy 1" of my printer shown as the default next to original one that is the one I am now using for Windows 10.

I had the same problem.  The simple "fix" is that you have replace the driver that you originally provided to your printer with the embedded driver that ships with Windows 10.  I did it in a round the Cape of Good Hope way that I can't even recall step by step to tell you how.  I think the easiest way would be to just delete the printer using the Control Panel and then "add a printer" so that it will pick up the driver embedded in Windows 10.  Guarantee it will work and so will all your other apps still print.

I can guide you to the Control Panel at least:  In the very bottom of your screen, lower left corner you see "Search the web and Windows".  Type Control Panel here. Click on the top option in pink. Left click on "Hardware and Sound". Left click on "Devices and Printers".
The way from here is pretty straightforward.  Make sure your printer is connected and on.

Updating the driver worked for me as well. The easiest way to update the printer driver is to navigate to Device Manager by clicking the Start menu, select Control Panel, select Device Manager, and find your printer under Printers. Right click on your printer (in my case it was "HP Envy Series 7460 series"). Left click Update Driver Software..., left click Search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the prompts until the installation is complete, and then restart your computer.

This might be of no help to you, but are you sure your contacts are gone? Windows 10 Mail doesn't have its own contacts folder, confusingly, but it gets that info from the People app.

Again, this might not help you. In my case, I went from Windows Live Mail 2011 to Windows 10 Mail, thought I had lost all my contacts, but to my relief, Windows 10 Mail did import them from Windows Live Mail. Whew. I just had to know where to look!
