You may try these steps to reset the Windows update components manually and check if it helps.
a. Click “Start”, type “cmd”in the Start search box.
b. Right-click “cmd” and select “Run as administrator”.
c. On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once) and press
Enter. net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old net start wuauserv net start cryptSvc net start bits net start msiserver pause
c. Exit the command prompt and check if it helps.
Method 3:
If you have installed any third party security software, you may temporarily disable third party security software and firewalls installed on the system and check if the Windows updates are getting installed.
Note: Make sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking for the issue.
