Hi Lorenzo,

1. Do you have any third party security software installed on the computer?

2. Have you made any recent software or hardware changes on the system?

This issue may occur if the Windows update components got corrupted.

Let’s try the following steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

You may try running the Windows Update troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Method 2:

You may try these steps to reset the Windows update components manually and check if it helps.

a. Click “Start”, type “cmd”in the Start search box.

b. Right-click “cmd” and select “Run as administrator”.

c. On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once) and press Enter.
net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
pause

c. Exit the command prompt and check if it helps.

Method 3:

If you have installed any third party security software, you may temporarily disable third party security software and firewalls installed on the system and check if the Windows updates are getting installed.

Note: Make sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking for the issue.
