scanpst crashes after saving backup and before repair - Outlook 2007 unable to open

I have followed the various strings to repair my Outlook 2007 (uninstalled, reinstalled, etc.). I have run scanpst.exe twice and it gets as far as making the back up and then stops responding. Outlook 2007 still does not open and I am wondering what next.

Your help would be greatly appreciated

(I have uninstalled/reinstalled entire office suite.)
