Which browsers are supported by OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive), People and Outlook.com?

When I go to OneDrive or my contacts on People, or Outlook.com on different PC’s, they don’t always appear the same. Why is this happening?

Answer
Answer

The overall experience of People, Outlook.com and OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive) may be different in some scenarios depending on the browser that you’re using. For the best experience, you should update your browser to the latest version and make sure Microsoft Silverlight is installed and running for browsers that support it. Silverlight is required for some OneDrive and Outlook.com functionality.

Please ensure that you’re using a supported browser for your computer, as explained below:

Microsoft Windows

Windows 7, 8, Vista, and Windows XP SP2 or higher:

  • Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10
  • Google Chrome 23+
  • Mozilla Firefox 17+

     Older versions of Windows:

  • Use a mail client (e.g. Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail)

 Apple Mac OS

Mac OS X 10.6 and higher:

  • Safari 5.1+
  • Google Chrome 23+
  • Mozilla Firefox 17+

     Mac OS X below 10.6:

  • Use a mail client

Notes:
If you are unable to upgrade your browser, you can use a mail client
to manage email and contacts. Microsoft’s mail client, Windows Live Mail, is a part of the Windows Essentials Suite of products and can be downloaded here: Get Windows Essentials.

If you opted in to the Office Web Preview, IE7 is not compatible and you may receive an error. Using the Office Web Preview will require that you upgrade your browser.
