Update Windows 10 1909 to 20H2 fails

Hello, I'm trying to update Windows 10 Professional from 1909 to 20H2. Unfortunately, it repeatedly fails. Error Code is 0xC1900101 0x30018. I upgraded the system from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last December. This worked fine; since then, no hardware has been changed. I've checked my drivers for updates and am running the system with only few programs. It is a sole gaming machine. I've run SetupDiag which created an empty text file.

Here, you can find setupact and setuperr from the panther-folder and drivers.txt: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/os9si3r1o21w0x7/AACBPGpo-PhtTNHx0jsKwgv9a?dl=0.

Do you have an idea what could cause the problem?

Hello Sumit, I'd prefer not to do a clean install. I fear, that Windows automatically tries to install a driver which doesn't fit. This problem would also exist after a clean install. I've read that some people who also use a 4790k with z97 Chipset managed to do the upgrade but got bluescreens after this because of teedriver. Maybe there is a driver fault that can only be solved by the manufacturer. I'll contact MSI.

A workaround, in that case, download the ISO file from the Media Creation Tool, disable the Internet, remove the driver and open the ISO file and run Setup.exe to start the update.

Thanks, I'll do that. Meanwhile, I've updated BIOS to the current version from 2016 (2015 before); maybe that helps, too.

Many thanks for your help. Upgrade completed. Now the System seems to work fine with 20H2; performance is good.

I've done the following:

- disable internet in 1909 and remove Intel Management Interface in Device Manager (under system devices)

- install 20H2 from a USB-Drive; setup wanted me to update Oracle Virtual Box which I did

- boot 20H2

- disable driver updates via group policies and via control panel

- enable internet

Strangely Windows still managed to download a new driver for Intel Management Engine Interface (from 2017). I've downgraded this one to the last version MSI suggests for my board (from 2016) and disabled Management Engine Interface in Device Manager before reboot.

Could you send the link for how to get 20H2 on a USB? Is it just the normal media creation tool?
