Camera App in Windows 10 not Working Properly

The Camera App in windows 10 needs updating and fixing.

I have two Microsoft Webcams:-

Microsoft LifeCam Studio.

Microsoft LifeCam Cinema

They both have the latest drivers from Microsoft.

If I try taking a picture with either of these webcam's I get the same fault code  0xA00F424F.

The same if I try to make a video I get fault code  0xA00F425C.

In both cases the Camera app turns off.

I know the Webcams work as I have tried them in different programs and Skype, so all I can say is the Camera App needs fixing.

All the best Keith.

Hi Keith,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the camera app as you have already tried to update the latest drivers from Microsoft.

You may try to uninstall the apps which came inbuilt with Windows 10 using Windows PowerShell and reinstall using Windows store. Follow the below steps to uninstall the Camera app.

  1. Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.

  2. Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.

  3. Enter the below command to reinstall the Camera app.

    get-appxpackage *Microsoft.WindowsCamera* | remove-appxpackage

Note: After performing the above steps, install the Camera app form the Windows store.

You may check the functionality of the camera app after reinstalling the camera app.

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

Thank you.

I did try this before you answered.

I thing the Camera App in Windows 10 needs fixing.

I tried another third party app called ManyCam and that works OK took picture and video,

but it's only a trial you have to pay for the full program.

Thanks for you help, I will wait until MICROSOFT fixes the Camera App in Windows 10.

Hello Keith,

Take a look at this blog post on troubleshooting camera issues. I believe if you rolled back or uninstalled you LifeCam camera driver you should get the Windows Camera app working with the generic windows camera driver. Please try one camera plugged in at a time. If you get one working, but it doesn't work with both plugged in, let me know.

How to fix Windows 10 issues with cameras when the Windows Camera app fails to launch

Please reply back and let me know if these steps helped. If not, please gather LifeCam model and driver information per the steps in the blog and report back.

Thanks,

Tom
