Xbox game Fable on Xbox 360

You must have an official microsoft hard drive to play backwards compatible games.

My hard drive size should be about 250 GB, so it's large enough to play backwards compatible games.  I had no luck installing the on site update, but I don't know if it matters because I kept the system up to date and am able to see the dashboard and such.

The storage space on the hard drive is not the issue. Official MS hard drives have the emulation software on them that is required to run original Xbox games. If the hard drive is not official, it will not work.

The back of the console says it's an XBOX 360 S console, Microsoft Corporation, Model 1439.  Does that answer the question?

not really as the fake drives can be put in very real looking hard drive casings.  if your system does not play a old gen game with that hard drive then that hard drive is a fake.

I don't know what to tell you.  I bought the system from the store and was not told of different kinds of systems besides the hard drive storage size, so it's not like I bought it from ebay.  I think a friend of mine may have had this problem as well, don't remember so well.  Anything else I can look into to prove it to you one way or the other?  And haven't other people had similar problems who have visited this site (not that I've found an answer yet)?

The only other thing to try would be to try playing another original Xbox game. If that works then it's an issue with the game itself. If it doesn't work, then it's most likely a hard drive issue.

The store employee where I bought the XBox360 from claims there are only Microsoft XBox360 consoles and gave me a helpful number (18004MYXBOX) where I discovered that the Xbox live service is free and obtained the download to play the Fable game after I signed up wholly.
