What is the deal with the damage done in this game?

Okay, the problem here is, I pummel somebody twice, no effect! He pummels me twice, he kills me! I have pummeled twice before he was able to deliver the final blow. Why does it take me LONGER to kill another player? I thought armor had no effect in this game!

Also, why is it that when I haven't been damaged by ANYTHING yet some player walks up in front of me and kills me with ONE, I repeat, ONE melee hit! I know I haven't taken any damage because my health is full and my armor is full! I even watch the videos in the theater to be sure that I have full health and armor in case something like this occurs!

I experience this kind of BS in the game all the time!

Is this a mod?

Is this a hack?

Is this a glitch?

Is it some kid with a lag switch?

Is it a rapid firing controller?

What the *bleep* is going on?

It's really making me angry and making me enjoy the game less and less. I do NOT have lag. I play other games and they play just fine.

These are players that use the same weapons that I do and use the same melee attacks like I do yet they kill me instantly!

Everyone has lag, sorry to say. As has been stated many times before, if it's happening in most of your games, it's a problem on your end. Just because you don't notice the lag doesn't mean it isn't there. You're describing perfectly what lag is like.

It all depends on the connection to the server and the host. The host's information registers the fastest out of anyone in the lobby. So if the host melees you, then you melee him, then some interruption in the connection occurs (can be unnoticeable) and it seems that you've just beat him down before he got you, it's lag. What happened on his end registered before your information did, hence the reality of the situation is not what you saw on your TV screen, if that makes sense. Hence why there are double beatdowns and double headshots.

It's the same thing when you kill someone and then a split second later they fire a headshot at you. It's all lag.

Thank you for clearing it up. I do live in a small town. Maybe the main problem is where I live. I can't afford to live in a heavily populated area so I'm stuck with what I have now.

It's not necessarily where you live, it's your connection to the host. If you're connection to the host is poor, the entire quality of the game will be as such.

The only time location really matters is if, say, you lived in Australia and you got thrown into an American lobby. If 7 out of the 8 people are American, you're not going to get host. Plus, the latency going from Australia to America for a game is HUGE. You could literally be seconds behind in a worst case scenario, so to you it'd look like you're being killed out of thin air. It's all dependent on the connection to the host.

I'm inclined to believe Noble's explanation is right, since lag has a massive effect in anything played online, but feel free to leave us a video we can watch for a specific example of what you're talking about .

Noble's posts were definitely right up there though, I found them a really good read .

Jack, what Noble said about lag not being noticable is dead on.  You get so used to that millisecond delay that you only notice when it changes and it only takes a slight change to throw your game into a total shambles.

the lag in my connection is very small most of the time. however, it does get noticeable at times and i wind up being autobooted by the system for a bad connection. that's the other effect of the lag...the servers will boot you if you wind up affecting game quality
