What ever happened to the bottle of wine you were supposed to crack open with Dr. Chakwas?

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***

Guess that subplot was just thrown to the wayside as well, eh?

Clearly they forgot to add that part in there, or because they changed the ending so drastically, it made the event impossible & just a nice conversational sentiment between you & Dr. Chakwas. A nice sentimental gesture before you go off & are forced to sacrifice yourself for the good of a galaxy that doesn't exist yet & which you will never know.

I was really looking forward to seeing that bottle of wine popped open, with all the Normandy crew standing around & celebrating emphatically as a bit of the bubbly poured all over their faces & down their gullets. Would have been really nice.

Disappointing, just disappointing all around...

It was actually a bottle of Serrice Ice brandy, and if you recruited Chakwas from Huerta Memorial and visit her in the med bay, there is an instance where she offers to open that bottle of brandy. When, exactly that happens, I can't remember, but I walked up to her and initiated a dialog.  I won't spoil the conversation, but it does happen, you just have to get her aboard the Normandy and go talk to her often enough to get the option.

People again, trying to find fault and nit picking. As the others said you open it with the doc if ''YOU'' bother to go visit her. Don't you feel silly now op?...

And that's why  it's a good ideal to talk to every one post mission.  Mainly post priority mission, but there's a lot of interesting dialogue between every mission.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the top right answer you give her "save it for the victory party" rather than bottom right "let's drink" :) Oh, and Traynor will let you know when the Dr. wants to see you.

Doesn't anyone appreciate the moment of hope. Even Chakwas, in said convo, infers she doesn't think they'll be alive to enjoy the tradition. By saying "save it for later" is much like the other moments with your LI where you talk about the house or the "blue babies" (from LotSB) in that you're giving them hope by vowing to live through this even if you don't believe it.

.

I kind of like moments like that in literature. The Hero knows that it's a promise they will probably have to break, but it's better to break a promise because you died saving those you made the promise too than failing to save them just to keep said promise.

.

Besides, if Shepard is dead (yeah, it could go either way right now - get over it) I imagine Chakwas opening the bottle and pouring half of it on Shepards Grave/Memorial etc...

Since Sheppard is still alive, this wine scene might be part of the ending they are going to release.  Since he is still alive, anything could happen and for sure, something eventually will happen.   Even if its not until the next consoles come out.

I've played 3 of the 4 endings... there is only 1 ending where they even begin to infer that Shepard is alive.

Opening is early is a Renegade option.  Just sayin'.  Paragorn option is "lets open it when the war is really over".

No, actually, I don't feel silly at all. You completely missed the point of my thread, which thankfully other posters clarified in further statements. You have the option to either "Drink it now" or "Save it for later". Going the full Paragon route, I chose to "Save it for later", only to find out that the ending never affords you the chance to pop it open.

It's not "nit-picking", it was an integral part of your relationship with Dr. Chakwas & in the end, the gesture was just forgotten. It would have made a great addition to the ending that everyone wanted & expected. Yet another testament to how terrible & unsatisfactory the ending was for a good majority of the people who completed the game.
