Metro 2033 Title Update

Hi,

I recently downloaded Metro 2033 from the marketplace and also got the Ranger Pack DLC at pretty much the same time. The game on it's own runs fine but if I try to do anything concerning the DLC I get a message saying I need to download the latest title update. Yet I have never been prompted to download one when the game starts.

I have tried clearing the cache and redownloaded both the game and DLC again 2 more times each but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty much stumped.

Cheers

Hey,

When you say you tried to re-download the game and DLC does that mean you are deleting them from your console entirely? Thanks

Hi phenom, I have this game on my console and just tried clearing the system cache, the first thing the game asked for when I played it was an update of 4mb, having checked on the internet the update adds DLC support and a gamma function to the display settings. Having checked the settings the gamma function is there so I assume the title update is working fine.

As I don't actually own the DLC I can't test that out and I don't understand why you're not being required to download the title update. Something you could try is clearing the system cache and deleting the content cache ( marketplace system data ) to see if that helps any. I'm assuming you know how to clear the system cache, the content cache ( marketplace system data ) can be found in settings/system/storage--select your storage device and look for system items, select that and look for content cache ( marketplace system data ), delete that, restart the console and try the game again.

I tried your suggestion but still no luck. Thanks anyway.

OK, progress (a little). I cleared the caches also on my older xbox and redownloaded and I am now getting the title update but it stops right before it finishes and quits to dashboard.

I'm going to make a wild guess that you're having a connection issue to the live service. Could you try powering off your modem/router for a couple of minutes, power the modem/router on again and then try clearing the cache etc again. If that does nothing you could try resetting the network settings on the console.

-

Turn off your console.

Wireless connection only: Unplug the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter from the USB port.

Turn on your console.

Go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

Select Network Settings.

Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

Select Configure Network.

On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults.

Note This will only reset the network settings. This will not affect any other console settings.

Turn off your console.

Wireless connection only: Plug the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter back into the USB port (if you are using an adapter).

Turn on your console.

Wireless only: You will receive a message to configure wireless settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your wireless network.

Test your Xbox LIVE connection. To do this, go to My Xbox, select System Settings, select Network Settings, select Wired Network or your wireless network name (if you are prompted to do so), and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

No luck sorry. I tried those two options and same result. I am having no problems downloading other items from the marketplace or installing other games' updates. I've bought 3 or 4 more things since this. It's just this specific one by the looks of it.

Also, not sure if it's relevant but when I get disconnected from Live, as you do when you need an update, I am given a 10 minute time limit to reconnect. Never seen that before...

I found this advice from THQ themselves give it a whirl.

Make sure you have the most recent update. To check this, start up the game whilst signed in to Xbox Live. If you do not have the latest update you will be prompted to download it.

From the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to My Xbox then scroll all the way to the right and select System Settings.

Select Memory then the Storage Device where Metro 2033 is saved then Games and Metro 2033.

Scroll to the very bottom and select Ranger Mode then Delete.

Press the Xbox Guide Button then press the A button to return to the Xbox Dashboard.

With Metro 2033 in the disc tray press the Y button for Game Details.

Select Downloads then scroll right twice to Most Recent.

Press the A button on Ranger Pack then select Download Again.

- It is also stated that if this doesn't work try deleting and downloading your profile.

Still nothing. I may have to get in contact with them myself. To me it looks like a problem with the update file but seeing as I've only found one other person that had this problem, and that was over a month ago, I'm not so sure
