Help out an ole PC vet

I've never played FPS games on consoles. I borrowed MW2 from a friend and ran through the campaign. It was a great game so I just bought Black Ops. I used to own quake 3, rogue spear, etc. back in the day. The change over from keyboard to gamepad is not so easy. I know I can buy a keyboard, but I'm assuming the top players learned on a gamepad.

Any advice on gamepad sensitivity, button configurations and/or gameplay suggestions is much appreciated. I'm getting pwned in multiplayer, but only rank 8-9, after playing last night for a few hours.

if your not on a budget , id suggest checking out Xim3.com , i love mine , and its 100% compatible and 'legal' according to M$ , lol.  i cant imagine playing a shooter without one now.

Looks interesting, but until I can afford one, anything I can do to help with the gamepad?

well , on a cheaper route, there are thumbstick extenders that really help too , as far as settings i had mine set fairly high when i used controllers.

MS may not take a stance on it at the moment but Treyarch have stated anyone they find using a XIM3 will be banned from the Black Ops servers.

 

I suggest you edit your post as MatTKs (Treyarch Security) is a regular on these forums.

oh , and by the way... this was taken straight from treyarchs ToS page for black ops....

Unsupported Peripheral Devices

Users who utilize a hardware device / peripheral that is not officially licensed or otherwise supported by console manufacturers

Microsoft as officially said more than once now that they consider Xim products to be supported hardware ,sorry to prove you wrong.

Treyarch treat the XIM3 as a modified controller which violates the terms of use.

where do I get the thumbstick extenders? I've never seen them in any stores.

lmao , please read your own forum link !! nowhere on it does it point out XIM , it is NOT A CONTROLLER !!!!! it runs and sends its signals thru a regular regulation microsoft controller. let me copy and paste it for u again ...

please educate yourself .

foxhound is a forum moderator , kinda like a mallcop. untill i get an email from someone , ANYONE telling me to stop using it  (wich i havent in the 2+years ive used it on EVER major game on the xbox) , i will consider it supported !!
