Batman Arkham City Authentication Code

I purchased the Batman Arkham CIty Game for PC windows live just recently I installed it and I either the code however it says Failed its logged/registered to another user.

I purchased this second hand at Cashconverters for $4 does this mean I cannot play this game or any second hand windows live games?

If the game was purchased Used, then I would imagine that the CD-Key would be used as well. Unfortunately, you will need to purchase the game New in order to get an used CD-Key.
