I got an Xbox 360 two years ago, and it has recently, when I play a game, on startup the disc drive will be VERY loud, then it will quiet down a bit, then it will get VERY loud again. I'm not sure why, but I don't really want to open it up. I don't think it has a warranty left on it either. My console is an Xbox 360 slim.

Xbox 360 Disc Drive Making Loud Noise

It might help if you install your disc-based games to the hard drive. This will prevent the need for the disc drive to spin up and should reduce the noise you hear.

When you put the disc in, instead of pressing A to play, there's an option to install the disc (I think it's the Y button now but it'll be listed at the bottom of the screen). You'll still hear the disc drive spin up when you first start a game, but that's just to verify that you have the disc in the drive. You shouldn't hear it anymore after that.
