Why does my xbox randomly disconnect from xbox live?

This has been happening every time i start playing xbox live for the last couple weeks, its very frustrating when your playing with friends and after 20 mins or so all the characters(Gears of War 3) in the game keep running or walking straight even if there walking against the wall, that lasts for about a minute and then a message pops up saying cant connect to xbox live party and then disconnected from xbox live, i dont know whats wrong with my connection or my xbox and when i try to sign in back up again it wont let me and makes me test connection ,after i test connection it doesnt connect to xboxlive and says theres something wrong with the network , so i just restart my xbox and everything seems normal.

This can happen for a number of different reasons. The party issues seem like a NAT issue.  Can you define the following?

ISP:

Router[make/model]:

Modem[make/model]:

Wired or Wireless?

What exact error message to you see when the test fails?

I'd start by clearing the system cache (it's just updates plus other temporary files, nothing that's at all important to anyone) by:

1) Tap the silver Xbox Guide button on the controller, go right 2 clicks to Settings, pick System Settings.

2) Select Storage (or Memory).

3) Move over any hard drive or memory unit (not the Cloud) & press (Y) on your controller & pick Clear System Cache.

4) When asked to confirm storage device maintenance, choose Yes.

If that doesn't fix it *please* first

1) go to www.xbox.com/accounts & click on Sign in at upper right - if you can't sign in then STOP: DON'T delete your profile. Please call Xbox Support for help with your account. If you can sign in, delete & redownload your profile on your Xbox this way:

2) Go to Settings

3) pick System

4) choose Storage

5) pick All Devices

6) choose Gamer Profiles

7) pick the gamertag

8) choose Delete, and

9) pick Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements. Now, re-download your profile.

Re-download

1) Tap the silver Xbox Guide button

2) Select Download Profile (and if you don't see it, press the blue X button to make sure you're not signed in) and proceed with Profile Download.

3) Enter the Windows Live ID for your Xbox LIVE gamertag when asked.

4) Enter the password for the WLID.

4A) If your account is an Xbox LIVE child account, the parent’s Windows Live ID & password is required as well to download your profile.

5) Select the storage device for your profile (choose Hard Drive if you have one, or Memory Unit if you don't have a Hard Drive).

6) When the download completes you will be asked if you want the console to remember your password. If it's your home console, I'd say yes, otherwise I'd think carefully about leaving my profile unprotected on somebody else's Xbox!

7) Sign in, and play!

Hi there, X UN7A1M3D X.

I am awfully sorry for the troubles you are facing.

As Vibroplex has explained how to clean your cache etc. I feel the need to add on just a few troubleshoot steps for your NAT type (Basically the connection between your router and your Xbox360 console), just in case the other solutions that have been suggested do not work.

If your NAT type is moderate or strict, which may be the problem to your connection problems, here is a link which will guide you through some solutions as to how

you can fix it. support.xbox.com/.../nat-type-strict

On the the other hand, if these solutions fail to help your NAT type and or connection, I suggest you call up your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and explain

to them the problems you are facing. After having done this, you should request them for new router if they haven't said they will send you one already.

Most ISPs send routers out for free, on the other hand if your ISP do not send you a router, free of expenses, I suggest you buy a new router.

Hope this helped !

Kind Regards,

Ryan M (DarkLink 900)

This is a networking issue. If it was an issue with your profile, you would be able to test the connection and have no errors when it finished. Please do not delete your profile, it will only cause more headache.

Without knowing what kind of equipment you are using, it will be very difficult to narrow down the cause of the issue. Please include as much info about your connection as possible so we can help you sort this out.

Yar,

Phill

Maybe there's something wrong with your Local Internet provider Comcast, Verizon FIOS, Cablevision etc . I had a few problems like that of my own i then switched my provider and everything was better......weird.
