Why are Extortion for Microsoft Points and  threats to hack my account Not being taken seriously by Microsoft?

I am totally annoyed with Microsoft right now. I called 6 days ago regarding my 11 y/o being threatened by another gamer while playing Halo. My son was afraid, but didn't tell me about the situation until the person who was extorting him actually did hack into our account and take our login info, etc- hijacking our system. My son was able to restore the gamertag- but WTF is wrong at Microsoft that #1- this is even possible, and #2- nothing is being done to stop it?

When I called Live support, the agent was super nice, told me that this behavior was unacceptable, and that the enforcement team would investigate, and ban the extortionist. Meanwhile- Nothing has happened to fix the situation, and our account was hijacked again. I was told by the friendly agent that "It isn't even possible" to hack into our account, because the hacker would need my email, password, etc- Which is a lie! He made me doubt my kid by telling me that the only way this could have happened is if my son gave the "hacker" the email and such. Since then, I researched "How to hack a gamertag"- and found tons of websites that tell you exactly how to do it- and it ain't hard.

I am outraged. Microsoft monitors the hell out of hacks that give players unfair advantages in games, cheats, etc- to preserve the integrity of their product and ensure that people will continue to pony up for Live accounts and new games. But, when it comes to the individual security of people playing online- they Do Nothing! And, they staff their phone support with drones that tell you all is well and good, no worries, etc. The second time I called, the agent didn't even Care that we had been hacked, didn't want to know the confirmation/conversation/issue # that i was given by the first agent who allegedly took all kinds of notes to pass on to the "Enforcement Team". She just kept saying over and over "file a complaint through your console". WTF?

The first agent also told me to come on here for help- well guess what? I found this website while doing my google search on "how to hack an xbox gamertag" precisely because another Customer of Xbox/Microsoft had his account hacked and all his Microsoft points- aka Money stolen. He was told by an official rep of Xbox/Microsoft that "unfortunately the phone reps were the only ones that could help him"!- WTF? He had already gone around and around for 2 weeks with the phone reps.

What will it take for Microsoft to care more about their customers than their profits? For them to realize that without customers, there are no profits? No empire is to big to topple- that is a historical fact. So, c'mon Microsoft- step up and do the right thing- charity money is great- but that charity money comes from millions of working stiffs just trying to help their kids have fun with the super cool technology you produce. Being hacked is not fun- having your kid nag you because they are being hacked extra not fun- telling your kid that you will take care of it, making a phone call, and then getting lied to is worse than not fun.

So, please allocate as many people to fix these kinds of problems as you allocate to security breaches that threaten your profits. You owe it to us. We are paying for a service, and it is not being provided when it is not being protected. Would you go to the best restaurant in town, where all your friends hang out, and you always have a great meal- but there is a 90% chance that someone is going to steal your wallet? Not for long.

2nd agent was right all you can do is file a complaint, block communications, set the player to avoid and wait it out. Only way someone can get a hold of your account is if the "hacker" is given the log in info or said log in info is extremely easy to guess.

OP: I understand your frustration, and apologize for any harsh interaction you had here on the forums. However, the users here are correct: filing a complaint, blocking communication, and calling phone support is the best course of action for something like this.

In the future, perhaps some stricter Online Safety or Parental Settings on your child's account could protect him from future harassment.
