i cant redeem my xbox live profile

please can someone help ,i cant sign into my xbox live account . ive tried the connection test and comes back that im connected so then i go to my avatar to sign in and it says connection not available plz try later ,does anyone know wot to do ive tried contactin xbox but no luck ,i think that there is a major problem here and xbox are not doing anything about it .
