was playing on my xbox earlier and as my internet was being a bit laggy decided to reset my router. After I restarted my router I turned my xbox back on and tried connecting to live but it says I dont have an ethernet cable plugged in and i checked the back of my xbox and the green light wasnt flashing i tried fiddling it around to see if it would recognize it but no luck. I then unplugged the cable and plugged it into my laptop and my laptop reads the cable and i can connect to the internet with it so cant be the cable so it must be something to do with my xbox. please help!!!!

ethernet cable not being detected

This seems to be a common problem with some people after a quick Google search, and I haven't found really any glaring solutions.
The easiest course of action would be to just buy a Wireless Adapter for your Xbox 360, and just connecting it to your router. Since you already have a laptop, I'm assuming you have a Wireless Router. Sure, it's expensive, but really it's probably the easiest way to fix the problem.

If using a different ethernet cable is yielding the same results, then I'm afraid the port and console will need to be repaired. You can use a wireless adapter, as Mythic suggested, but be sure to check your warranty status here, to see if you qualify for a free repair. If you do, I suggest taking it while you can.
