Child Account

have an 8 year old son.  He loves minecraft.  He wanted to get some skins.

I did some research online and they cost 150 microsoft points.

So I went to GameStop and picked up an "Entertainment Pack" for $20.  It includes a month of Microsoft Live Gold, 480 points, and some other things.

Now I want to give the XBox Live Gold to his profile and figure out how to buy the skin.

When i go to the "Go Live' square on the XBox it signs out his profile and asks for an email address and sign in.  He's 8 - he doesn't have an email address.  I'd use mine, but my email address is tied to my xbox live profile.

I don't want the minecraft skin to be applied to my profile.  He's been playing minecraft for months and he wants to use the skin on his own profile and the xbox live would give him the ability to play with his friends.

How exactly do I set this up properly?  And once I do, where do I go to buy the skins with the microsoft points?

You'll need to create and email to use. You can make it any type you want. Basically, in order to use points, or local currency now, you need to be a live gold or silver member. In order to be a live member you need an email account. Being yours is already in use, just make a new one to use for his account.

Here is a step by step, to elaborate on Yezzmina's instructions:

  1. Create a new email, or use an immediate family member's email.
  2. Using that email, turn your son's account into a Silver account.
  3. Redeem the 1 Month code on your son's account to make it a Gold account.
  4. Redeem the Microsoft Points on your son's account, they will be converted into your local currency.
  5. Have your son start Minecraft and select the skin pack he wants, you should be prompted to purchase it from there.
  6. Alternatively, you can search for Minecraft in the Game Marketplace and look for the pack under the Extras tab once you find and select the game.

Also, even if you purchase the skins on your account, he will still have access to them as long as you both play on the same console.

Hope that helps! =)
