Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community forums.

From the issue description, I see that you are unable to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 and receive error code 0x80070001 while checking compatibility.

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

Method 2:
If the issue persists, I would suggest you to disconnect all external devices except mouse and keyboard. Check if it helps.

Method 3:
If the issue is not resolved, I would suggest you to disable antivirus software temporarily and check if it helps.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 4:
If the issue is not resolved, I would suggest you to perform check disk and check if it helps.
