Some of the program icons have Blue and Yellow Shield in Windows 7

What is the blue and yellow shield on some of my programs icons. I can't seem to figure out how to take it off the icon.
Answer
Answer
Items with the shield need administrator privileges to run.  Most of these things will give you a UAC pop-up or need to be run by right-clicking and choosing "run as administrator".  I don't know of any way to remove the shield, but I've never tried myself.

Its an indication of task or applets that might require elevated privileges.

I would not remove it, its intended purpose is to inform the user, its not in your face, so just ignore it.
