Hi Folks,
Running Windows7 on number of workstations on a Workgroup. On the same workgroup are a number of Win2K workstations and a single NT4 workstation. We have a shared folder on the NT4 computer which all Win2K computers can access. No domain in use.
Running TCP/IP on the NT4 computer with a shared folder
Gradually changing Win2K computers over to Windows 7 but when I do so, those Windows7 computers can see the NT4 computer on the network but cannot connect to it. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. It's not due to that as even the simplest user/ logon password combination fails.
Windows7 computers can access a shared folder on a Win2K computer. It's just this NT4 share that is being problematic. Unfortunately the NT4 computer solely runs a £100K DNA sequencing machine with the results accessible to all. Upgrading it is not an option! I can get around it by copying the results from the NT4 computer to a Win2K shared folder accessible by all, but it's a fudge.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Duncan
