Atheros AR9285 and Windows 7 not compatible

I just purchased two Compaq Presario CQ61-313WM laptops with windows 7 installed, right out of the box they will not connect to wifi, I have google searched the problem between the wifi chip installed "Atheros AR9285" and windows 7, I have also searched Microsoft tech support with the same information. I have tried all the workarounds, changing the dns, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, updating to the latest driver, even a fix from HP Support Assistant, I reset the Tcp/ip settings and reinstalled the winsoc thinking maybe it was corrupt, I have reset the laptops to factory settings, and all failed. I simply cannot connect to internet wireless, calling compaq they say that it is an isp problem and my isp says it's a compaq or micorsoft problem, I have seen that many people have this issue with this wireless nic card in these laptops some HP brand and most in the compaq brand. What can I do to get this resolved?
Answer
Answer

Hi

I came few times across such a problem.

Assuming that the hardware is OK.

My solution was to log to HP support and download the drivers from there, the Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 .

Uninstall Win 7 native drivers and try the Atheros drivers.

It then worked with the Atheros drivers.
