Surface pro 4 pen jitter will it be fixed?

It's seriously annoying me too. Only just discovered  that it's not actually me causing the terrible wobbly lines, but the Surface Pro 4! And this was the reason I bought the machine! Haven't they found a fix for this yet? I can't actually believe Microsoft okayed this product and actively pitched it as a production machine at creatives, and this glaring innacuracy with its performance was there all along!

I haven't been this frustrated with drawing in my life. Microsoft! Sort it out now! We didn't pay hundreds, or even thousands of pounds for our devices to be given this sub-standard performance!

I'm having the same issue. I use a Cintiq but wanted something portable, it was a toss up between Ipad Pro and the Surface 4. 

The jitter is horrible on the surface for sketching. I would be interested in knowing if this problem will be fixed. I'll check back here regularly but if it's not repaired I will have to get rid of this Surface 4.

After the update, i feel like it is fixed. W10 preview, SP3  Onenote 2016

I've just removed then installed all updates on my surface the updates do improve the issue but its still there. Handwriting is improved but drawing, inking and slow lines are still jittery.

From an artists point of view this is a huge pain because it makes sketches look like their done with a mouse, a fairly accurate mouse but the flow is gone.

here is an example of slow straight lines that i'm getting . You'll notice the quicker hand writing is alright but drawing slow straight lines is still impossible

I would like to know if Mircrosoft is frantically trying to fix this or if this update is the best we are going to get..

Is it a hardware problem of firmware? 
I'm guessing if we don't get a reply then it's hardware and they are hiding from this problem hoping people just 'get used to it'

Still contemplating taking mine back to the shop.  I'll continue to draw on it today

After 2 days of testing and customizing I went out and brought an Ipad pro. 
As an artist there is no room for a **** tool like this in my work flow. 

In my opinion Microsoft needs to : 

1.FIX THE JITTER! 
2.Increase the pressure sensitivity so it has a longer range. 
3. have the pen register as soon as it touches the glass. At the moment you have to press down on the glass a bit, this throws off shading and because of the small sensitivity range it makes the whole drawing experience clunky and not up to par.


Knowing all these issues I've brought and been testing the ipad pro.
None of the Surface issues are present.

Unfortunately I will go with Apple and their stupidly expensive 'pencil' this time. 

Keep it up Microsoft, I'll be waiting until you catch up 

How is testing so far? It would be great to see an iPad Pro / Pencil screenshot similar to the one you made on the SP4 (thanks for that).

I spent a good deal of time with the SP4 in a store. As much as I like all the other benefits of this solution, the wavy slow diagonal lines are a deal breaker for me too.

There is an animated GIF and a screenshot on Imgur showing a similar issue on iPad Pro / Pencil (although not nearly as bad as the SP4) but I question if these examples are real or just trolling.

Dude I wish i was trolling. 
I was pretty upset when I set it all up and it couldn't even draw a straight line. I've managed to sell the SP now but lost 100 bucks on the transaction which sucks. And now have the Ipad pro


Pro's and cons of the ipad pro:

The Ipad is an ipad so can't multitask and basically isn't a computer like the SP. 

The pencil on the ipad pro is quite similar to my cintiq in terms of pressure, which is really nice. And you don't need to put any pressure on the screen for it to recognise the pencils on there and is going to make marks. 

Using the edge of the apple pencil to shade is a gimmick, it's not as controllable  as you need it so I tend not to use it for shading like that. 

Charging the pencil on the ipad looks stupid and if your not careful the pencil will snap off for sure.. luckily the pencil only needs 15 seconds to charge for about 40 mins... i make sure i just don't take my hand off it when it's in there.

Final words .. if you draw the SP is useless.
I'm waiting for windows to work out something nice, because i don't really trust or want to be using apple BUT.... i gotta say i've used the ipad everyday since i brought it and it's going real good. Real happy that they pulled through with some good drawing tech'. I'm no fan boy, but i'll use it until windows can catch up  

Oh, and sorry. I didn't mean *your* examples were trolling. I was referring to the other anonymous iPad Pro examples I found. Not enough context to even know if those were legit. Thanks again.

After much research and testing, I've reached the same conclusion and purchase decision. I would prefer a Windows tablet for versatility, but Apple has the only acceptable and (relatively) affordable solution right now in regards to taming line jitter and registering line strokes in a natural-feeling way.

Here's what I learned:

It comes down to digitizer technology, of which there are only a few types on the market. The consumer tablet market is moving towards newer technologies (Microsoft N-Trig, Wacom AES) that have tested out (so far) as having worse jitter than older technology such as Wacom EMS. Also, Microsoft and Wacom seem to have some sort of new compatibility deal which I'm guessing would involve the N-Trig and AES technologies, so I'm not expecting to see this get better in Surface 5 unless they work some magic in software. The older Wacom EMS technology (SP1, SP2, Galaxy Notes, Cintique, etc.) is pretty good in regards to jitter, but is all but gone from new tablets because of the cost, weight, and thickness added by the digitizer layer. The newer technologies are cheaper to integrate into products.
