Disable the on-screen pop-up keyboard when another is plugged in

When I plug in or add another keyboard (bluetooth, USB), I don't want the on-screen one coming up each time I click on a text box.  How do I do that?

Hello Scott Gillespie,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the on screen keyboard coming up, even if you have a keyboard plugged in.

You are not able to disable the on screen keyboard, however if you type on your keyboard it will automatically close the on screen keyboard.

We will pass on the feedback.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

I've noticed that it pops up when surface is in laptop mode and sitting on my lap if the lights are on , on the type cover the on screen keyboard will disappear, if the cover isn't sitting flat the pc might not be recognizing that the cover is plugged in therefore it will offer the popup keyboard. So make sure type cover lights are on to make popup keyboard disappear. This was my issue now the problem is fixed again if your type covers backlighting is on the pc recognizes that the cover is plugged in if the backlights are not on the pc offers the pop up keyboard as it should thank you.
