Office 2011 install is stuck on running package scripts

Original Title: "My installation is stuck on running package scripts.... and says 33 hours remaining.  This is a brand new MacBook Air I am trying to install this on??? whats the deal?"
Installing Office Mac 2011 on a MacBook Air.  Software is stuck downloading. Cant turn computer off to reboot because it says the downloader is busy.  Cant get it to do  anything else... just stuck on running package scripts.

Quit the installer then Log out under the Apple In the Menu bar. When you Log back in, hold down the Shift key THEN run the installer.

The scripts is trying to quit your browsers. All browsers must be quit before the installer will run. There is a notice to quit all applications before installing. Most users ignore or don't see this and install fails.

Restart your computer THEN complete updating Office.
You must install 14.1.0 before updating to 14.1.4.
