Outlook for Office 365 MSO cutting the subject line after Windows Update

Hello,

After Windows Updates KB4532938, KB4528760 Outlook for Office 365 MSO cuts the subject line in Messages and reading Pane. I already tried unchecking the box "Disable hardware graphics acceleration". We don't use Conversations so no settings in conversations are available.

I also downloaded the graphics driver from Dell with the older version, tried to remove KB4532938 and nothing works.

It is like the whole header pane gets disabled because there is no option to expand it. See attached picture.

Does anybody have a solution for the issue?

Hi Oswaldo,

Glad to help you here. Based on your scenario, I recommend you could try the following methods and view whether they are helpful.

1. Reset view of Outlook to be default. Exit Outlook client, right-click Start button to Run, and then paste “Outlook /cleanviews” in Run box and press Enter key.

Note: If you have important custom view, remember to take a note before the operation above.

2. Repair Outlook client.

·Right-click Start button to Apps and Features.

·Select Office programs to Modify.

·Choose Quick Repair, if it doesn’t work for you, try Online Repair.

If the subject line is still incomplete, could you please offer me the version of your Outlook client for further analysis?

Click File > Office Account.

Best Regards,

Betty

Hello Betty,

I try the clean views and yesterday I tried to repair Outlook first with Quick Repair and then with Online repair and didn't work. I even updated Windows 10 from version 1903 to 1909 but no luck. I keep getting the same issue:

Everything was working until Windows Updates. Here is the version that I have:

As you can see there is no pointing down arrow to expand the header or anything to show the rest of the subject line.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hi Oswaldo,

Thanks for your feedback, after checking the version of your Outlook client, I found it is of Office Insider version, which is out of our support boundary, to let you get further better assistance, I will help you move your thread to Office Insider forum, the engineer there will further help you there.

Best Regards,

Betty

I am now seeing this issue as well in production.

I have a user on the most recent build (just did a complete reinstall 64 bit office this evening) and they are seeing the issue.

For troubleshooting purposes - this happens:

  • New Outlook Profile
  • Both 64 and 32 bit versions running latest builds
  • PC on 1903 (I've heard this happens on 1909 as well)

Not sure what to try next.

I am having this same issue. It just started with my account today. It was fine this morning until I closed outlook and reopened. I am also having the same issue with a few other users in my company and it is affecting business operations being email is our primary source of communication.

Looking for an answer for an immediate fix so I can help my users get back to normal. Here is the version we are all on.

This is the office insider forum. I went to the insider forum section and it brought me to this link. So is there no answer to this bug/issue currently?

No - no fix as of yet.. And no response from Microsoft proper about it either.

I will confirm that a rollback to an earlier version of Office DOES solve the problem - so it is specific to the newest one.
