Wifi doesn't have a valid IP configuration

I recently bought a windows 8 laptop which used to access the internet fine for a few weeks but after a couple of updates it has stopped accessing the internet. Now i am getting NO NETWORK ACCESS with the yellow exclamation mark
When i tried troubleshooting, i got the response, "Wifi doesn't have a valid IP configuration". I have tried many of the suggestions that i have found on the forum like resetting TCP/IP stack with the netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log hit  but this has not changed anything. please help me i am getting desperate here.

Answer
Answer

Hi Punnen,

I understand that you are facing issues with wireless network.

We appreciate your effort to resolve the issue. I suggest you to perform the following troubleshooting steps also and check if it helps.

The issue could be caused if there is a miss match in the IP address configuration.

Method 1:

Release and renew IP address for your computer:

a. Press Windows key + X and select “command prompt (admin)”.
b. Type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.
c. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
d. Type Exit and hit Enter.

Method 2:

Follow the steps to manually assign IP address:

a. Open Network Connections by pressing Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
b. Right-click the connection that you want to change, and then click Properties. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
c. Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
d. To specify IPv4 IP address settings, do one of the following:
• To specify an IP address, click Use the following IP address, and then, in the IP address, Subnet mask, andDefault gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.
e. To specify IPv6 IP address settings, do one of the following:
• To specify an IP address, click Use the following IPv6 address, and then, in the IPv6 address, Subnet prefix length, and Default gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.
f. To specify DNS server address settings, do one of the following:
• To specify a DNS server address, click Use the following DNS server addresses, and then, in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server boxes, type the addresses of the primary and secondary DNS servers.
g. To change advanced DNS, WINS, and IP settings, click Advanced.

Method 3:

An automated troubleshooter is a tool that can find and automatically fix some problems with your computer. These troubleshooters aren't designed to fix every problem, but they're a useful tool to try because they can often save you time and effort.

Run the Network Troubleshooter from the link:

This should resolve the issue.
