GTA V will not work on my xbox at all....

Story goes, I bought GTA V and Unrecongnized disc would pop up all the time. Finally would get disc one to work, the disc 2 would do the same thing. after hours of trying, It finally loaded... I didn't turn off my xbox for a day or so then the game froze. Now it wouldnt work at all. Disc one or disc 2.

I have since traded the game in and got a new copy and the issue is still there. Even trying my brothers copy wouldnt work. My xbox will read any other game I have with no issues

My xbox is the old special edition MW2.

This has been a huge headache, I activated my xbox gold for this game and I do not even get to use it.

Has anyone else had this issue where their xbox will just not work at all with gta5?

What type of hard drive do you have installed in the console?  Have you done the mandatory install portion of the game?

Hi there I LasT R3z0rT I,

-

I'm sorry to hear your experiencing this issue trying to play Grand Theft Auto V. Since you've swapped out the discs already at a retailer's we've ruled out it being the disc. Also have you been able to successfully install Disc 1 to your console? Make sure that's installed first, as for Disc 2 do not install Disc 2. Now have you cleared the system cache on your XBOX 360 console yet? Here's how.

-

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
    1. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
    2. Select Clear System Cache.
    3. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
    4. Repeat the process once more.
    5. Now load GTA V and see if you're able to get the disc to work.

Disc 1 is unrecognizable. I am unable to even get the disc to load. I have cleared my system cache, i have even did a complete format on the drive.  Its the 250gig HDD that came with the xbox.

I just cleared my cache again, twice. inserted disc, same error.

thank you for the replies.

Does your brother have a console?  Have you tried all copies on his if he does have on?  Perhaps it's an issue with the cd laser itself and may need replacing.

I haver the same problem, but it occurs with the two discs.

I've tried to keep contact with Rockstar support with no success.

I also traded the game twice with the retailer, but the problem persists.

Anyone has any suggestion?

Hi again I LasT R3z0rT I,

-

I'm also curious if you have tested these copies of Grand Theft Auto V on your brother's XBOX360 to see if they work on that console. If you haven't already done so, please go ahead and verify whether you see these issues on his console as well.

-

Also since you've cleared the system cache multiple times and even reformatted the hard drive, we've ruled out those solutions. Have you disconnected your hard drive from your console to see if the game starts with the hard drive removed from the console? Please power off the console, remove the hard drive and see if the disc is readable. Then power off the console, reinsert the hard drive and then try the game again.

Sounds like the disc drive in your console is giving out. You may need to contact support to get a repair ticket started.

If it's not working with the hard drive then your hard drive needs to be replaced.
