Transferred everything to Flashdrive to Troubleshoot HDD. After configuring, testing, and transferring everything...UNFORMATTED FLASHDRIVE!!

I've been having issues with my 360 for over a month now. Games I haven't played in a while need a update. NO PROB, but it nver happens and I get an error code. Ok, so I only play Fallout NV which works fine. So now my son is bugging me to play RE5 or Aof2, 40th day and no go. Needs an update! Now, I have a console 360 with my Elite 120G HDD in it. This is the 2nd 360 and the 3rd. HDD...So, I'm already alittle mad because of this small MONEYPITT. I'm an older gamer and remember having to blow into my Atari to get it to work. Anyway, I have a feeing the HDD is going again so I go buy a BRAND NEW PNY 16Gb Flashdrive to put my stuff on so I don't lose everything like the last time the HDD died. I put it in, formatted it(no need configuring, I needed most of the space), it then went through it's testing phase...I then re-named it(FOR XBOX ONLY) so I wouldn't use it for anyhing else accidentally. I then started copying more important files then stopped when I found out I could transfer everything at once.  So I transferred everything to the Flash. I removed the HDD, restarted the 360, went to memory, and theres an UNFORMATTED FLASHDRIVE!!! Honestly, by now I'm used to it(yes 360 bashing), I've spent more money and time with "THESE" 360's than I care to admit. I'm not going to say...IM GONNA BUY A PS3 OR A WII!! I have them all and I just like the 360 better(even after all the bull)...BUT...THIS problem, I cannot forgive!! For heavens sake IT TESTED THE FORMATTING!!! IT SAID(basically)--->Go ahead tranfer all of your stuff...your 500+hours of Fallout NV, your son's games...your WIFE'S games... Honestly, it's taken quite a bit of self control to NOT destroy everything 360!! Worse still is that I'm a stockholder and have been for longer than some of you have been playing. Sorry, one more rant, last time the HDD went, I lost the equivocal of a life's work for Fallout 3...At least, you're being consistant!!!

Ok, as far as I can tell the Flashdrive still has everything on it. Is there another way to access it? C'mon this MUST HAVE happened before???

Oh yeah, the announcement-->I'm having trouble with my USB Storage Device is wonderful...MAYBE YOU SHOULD MAKE IT NECESSARY READING PRIOR TO FORMATTING, TRANSFERRING, ETC!!  If I had known there MIGHT be the possibility of failure even after the Flashdrive is TESTED, I certainly would not have TRUSTED the transfer process. I would have made backup copies...and backups of the backups. Yes, I have a seperate external HDD for BACKING UP MY BACKUPS of my computer. I'm sorry, but I continue to lose faith in anything 360. Honestly, I'm sure any ADMIN can access my service record and having to send something out for service so often for so long...becomes frustrating. I have tools that are beat up on a regular basis and keep on working...

PS...I'm not even going to get into the UPDATE ISSUES or the MAJOR problem with games that the XBOX BURNED A RING(S) INTO!!! and are now $60 pot/pan scrapers...

I can certainly understand your frustration, and I do hate to add a little more to it, but if the flash drive is not able to be properly read by the console, then the data onboard would not be recoverable. As a side note, I have noticed a few other reports of this issue lately, so I will see if I can get our engineering team to investigate.
