Sync button issue

I bought an Xbox 360 S about a month ago. Having pressed the Sync button to connect  a Wireless microphone noticed that the Ring of Light failed to flash or spin. No matter how long I press the button, it simply fails to do anything. I returned the console to GAME - but when they set-up the console and pressed the Sync button all was well, flashing and spinning as it should. However, upon returning the console home and setting it back up again, the Sync button once again failed to do anything. Any suggestions on what is going on? Is it a faulty Sync button?

To be clear, are you experiencing this in two different locations? It sounds like perhaps it's not working at home, but working at a game retailer, is this correct?

If this is the case, can you possibly try a different wall outlet in your house (preferably in another room) to see if that makes any difference?

Lastly, were they using a different headset or controller? If so, it's possible the headset/controller in questions is the issue, in which case you'd want to try with a different one.

Okay, have tried plugging the console into a different wall outlet, in another room, and still no spinning ring of light when I press the Connect button. The Game retailer used both a different controller and the one supplied with my console. I guess the key question for me is, should the ROL always light up and spin when the Connect button is pressed and under what circumstances does it not?

Just a quick question for you here.  Are you pressing the sync button on both the microphone and the xbox when you attempt to do this?  Read the instructions for syncing the microphone to see how to sync it properly.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, have tried pressing the sync button on both - also found a video on You Tube covering syncing the microphone, clearly showing the ROL spinning when the Connect button is pressed.

To clarify, you're pressing the sync button to the left of the USB port bay, correct?

and you did hold down the button on the microphone for the required amount of time to connect right?  I no longer have the instructions for mine but I believe that you have to hold it down for about 3-4 seconds.  Check the instruction booklet yours came with.

Yes, have pressed the Connect button to the left of the USB ports and held the sync button down for the required time. Question - what should normally happen when the Connect button on the console is pressed? As mentioned earlier mine appears to do nothing - no spinning ROL.

You should definitely see a spinning Ring of Light. But, to clarify - it worked fine, complete with spinning Ring of Light when you took it into the store, correct?
