New problems

Alright I haven't had any problems connecting to Live or joining parties since I moved into my college dorm last year where the NAT is set a moderate for everyone.. my friends(that dont live here) are networking geniuses and always have their NATs open and they always host games and such

this past weekend though I haven't been able to join a single person on my friends list or play any kind of matchmaking in Halo, Cod, anything. I've talked to the IT people here at my college and they assured me nothing has changed and my friends swear up and down that their connections are still fine but I can't join anyone. It doesn't make sense because they keep saying that moderate can join moderate and open, and even strict can join open

I have a secure router in my room that has all the necessary ports forwarded, but only UDP 3074 is really forwarded according to the UPnP portmap.. I don't know what else to do so hopefully someone has some advice??

also I don't know if this would help but if I connect directly into the ethernet in the wall and test Live, I can connect but it gives that warning about "Your NAT is moderate" which I already know, the school sets it

If I test Live while connected to my router, I can connect and I dont get the warning and if I check my NAT using Black Ops or something it says its Open... I still can't connect to anyone either way

What Country/State/Province do you live in? USA

Modem brand & model number: no idea, it people won't tell me either

Router brand & model number: personal router is a Netgear WPN824 v3

Network Connection Type: Wired

Things you have tried:

Is UPnP Enabled? I'm assuming that UPnP is enabled for the dorm wide network.. I personally have tried enabling and disabling it on my router with no luck.

Is NAT Type Open? No, see below

Any Error Codes you encounter: none

What type of internet do you have? Cable/DSL/T1/3G? assuming T1, don't really think it matters

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Bellsouth.net

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" and click on "More info", what is the exact message shown on screen?

Again, if I connect directly into the school network I get the error message saying my NAT is Moderate.. If I test while connected through my personal router I do not get the error message. In both situations I can't join anyone.

Okay, I'm curious about what you said in your first post, about 3074 being the only port that's REALLY open? Would it be possible to try and open those ports again, to see if that opens things up? Also, have you asked your friends what they've done to establish their open NATs?
