Controller Left Stick issue

I just replaced my standard battery pack (AA battery version) with the play and charge kit. When I put the rechargeable battery in, for some reason the left stick won't work and scrolls down automatically. I replaced it with the original battery pack and it works. Any ideas?

None at all, that is extremely strange to say the least.
The battery pack is nowhere near the thumb stick so why it would cause it to drag down is a mystery.

Have you charged the battery fully, not that I could see that causing an issue like this if you hadn't.
