Changing A Gamertags Windows Live ID

What are you trying to do? Move a gamer tag from my old email address to my new email address.
Are you getting an error message or code? Multiple problems. On Xbox console Error code: 80154002 and on xbox.com logging in with my windows live id created a new gamertag.
During what step did you receive an error? on the console after confirming my windowslive id & password and the new windows live ID i wanted to use.
all accounts are validated and work on live.com

So when you tried loggin in on Xbox.com with this Live ID and password, it created a new Gamertag? Is that correct? And can you log into https://billing.microsoft.com with that information? If not, you may want to call phone support for assistance recovering the email address associated with the account.

If you try to log in on Xbox.com and get taken to a new account, then this WLID is not the one attached to your GT. If you forgot what the WLID was on the old GT then, as suggested, you should call up phone support. support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.aspx

I ended up having to submit an escalation through xbox live. :) Suprised this account is still here!  If you have an email you use that is then merged to windows live ID (Must common with college email accounts) It unbinds your gamertag 1/2 way. Meaning its attached on the billing side but doesnt exist online or for gamer tag recovery purposes. You would need to call in confirm your identy then submit a windows live ID recovery with the information listed in your original account (being as there are now 2 windows Live IDs with the same name for log in just diffrent passowrd [hopefuly! otherwise idk what to tell ya]) then the xbox live representative that calls you 2-3 days after your escalation moves your gamer tag to a temporary windows live Id. After this is complete this account you accidently made while logging it must be added to your xbox console via recovery. Then you must make yet another FAKE windows live id. use your xbox to transfer your accidental offline account to the recently made fake windowslive id (which you will never use) then you will take the Temporary email address and recover your actual real and legit gamer tag to your xbox. After this you must then transfer your gamertag to the email your accidently created gamer tag was just moved from. (AKA the original email address your gamer tag was on or a new one if you hate your school by now ;D) Once this is done your account will be either: Relinked to your windowslive id correctly OR you will have moved it to a new email addrss of your choice.

IF your still with me this is ware we start to belittle microsoft support for making you find almost all of this out on your own, explain it to them, and then do it yourself once they finaly agree to move your gamer tag to a temporary Windowslive id, since apparently they couldnt just added it back to the correct one or move it to an email of your choice.  HOLY crap microsoft? Simplify this! this happened to 5 of us at the same time because our school merged our emails to windowslive IDs.  University of georiga is a pretty big school so i imagine were not alone....
