i try to select dial up and get an error 711

It seems that you are facing issues while connecting to the internet. It would be great if you can answer the following questions:

1.    Were there any changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

2.    Who is the Internet Service Provider?

3.    What is the complete and exact error message?

 

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps:

a. Click on Start, type “services.msc” without quotes and hit Enter.

b. Locate “Plug and Play”.

c. Right click on the service and select Properties.

d. In Start-up type, select Automatic.

e. Click Start under Service status.

f. Click OK.

g. Repeat the steps c to f for the following services also:

“Remote Access Auto Connection Manager”

“Remote Access Connection Manager”

“Telephony”

Thank You so much for helping me.  I'm sorry it takes me so long to reply but I can't get on the
internet on my computer so I  am using my neighbors.  Here are the answers you asked for, and I will go try what you suggested after I send this.  I will let you know if what you suggested worked later tonight.  Thanks again.    Anna

q.  Were there any changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
a.  I don't know what happened to cause the /windows/system32/config/system file is missing or corrupt problem.  Before that everything worked fine.  If you need I can try to remember what steps was taken to get my computer to log on to windows again, I thought everything was fine until I pressed my shortcut to log on internet and I got this error-
appname: 550access.exe       appver: 3.5.4.5      mod name:550access.exe
mod ver: 3.5.4.5     offset: 0000e24d

q.    Who is the Internet Service Provider?

a.    550access.com

q.    What is the complete and exact error message?

a.    network connection   error 711 :  A configuration error on this computer is preventing this connection.  for further assistance, click more information search help & support center for this error number.

I did that and it says-  711: The Remote Access Service Manager could not start additional information is provided in the event log.

Hi.. O.K. This is what happened when I did as you asked...

the plug and play was already on automatic so that was fine.

then when i went to "remote access auto connection manager" I got this....
Could not start the remote access auto connection manager service on local computer.
error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.


and on remote access connection manager I got this...
Could not start the remote access connection manager service on local computer.
error 5: Access is Denied
