Trying to install my hercules delue optical glass webcam on my HP desk top with windows 8.

Hello I am trying to install my Hercules deluxe optical glass webcam on my HP desk top with windows 8.

While trying to install it I get this message.

It say's I need the windows XP service PK 2 (SP2) or later update installed.

Anyone having this issue?

I would appreciate any suggestions on where I can get this service pack so I can install it?

I had this same webcam installed and used it on my other computer but I had windows 7 on it, so don't know if I will be able to use it with windows 8, sure hope I can.

Thanks,

Willie

Hi Willie,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft community forum!

Based on the description, it appears that you are getting an error saying you need “windows XP service PK 2 (SP2) or later update installed” while trying to install “Hercules deluxe optical glass webcam”.

1.      What is the model number of the computer?

2.      What is the complete error message?

3.      How did you install Windows 8? Is it an upgrade or clean install?

I can understand the inconvenience caused to you. I will certainly help you out with this issue.

Let’s try these methods and update us with the results.

Method 1: Run the Hardware troubleshooter and check.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.

c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the search option.

d. Click on Hardware troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall the webcam driver from “Device Manager”.

a. Press “Windows key + W” from the keyboard.

b. Type “Device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit Enter.

c. Search for “Camera” from the list of devices.

d. Right click on your “Webcam” and then select “Uninstall”.

e. Restart the computer for changes to take effect.

Download and Install the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.

You can install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 8 compatible drivers.

Follow these steps:

a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.

b) Type compatibility in the search box and then press enter.

c) Click “Run programs made for previous versions of Windows” option from the list appeared in the left side.

HELLO,

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how i might possibly get my Hercules optical glass web cam install on my HP desk top which is running windows 8?

I tried it once before using the install disk that came with my webcam, but kept getting the
message  I need the windows XP service PK 2 (SP2) or later update installed.

That was back when I first got the pc.

After much frustration I gave up with trying to install my web cam on windows 8.

Okay so I am back trying again and now the freaking computer or windows 8 won't even acknowledge the disk when i try to install the web cam using the cd rom.

I would appreciate any help... I'd really like to keep my web cam and use it and not have to purchase a new one if possible.

What drivers would or could i use to make this web cam work with windows 8?

Frustrated.
