Error 643 when installing Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (KB2455033)
This is listed as an important security update through Windows Update. I've tried the Microsoft cleaner and it confirmed there was an error, but that didn't resolve the problem. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance

Hi,
Which ‘Microsoft cleaner’ are you referring to?
Step 1: You may try the troubleshooting steps provided in the below article and check.

I did try the troubleshooting steps, but was unable to successfully install the patch. The cleanup tool that I used was: MicrosoftFixit50123.msi. It found the partial install and removed it. However I'm still not able to install the patch.
This is the error list I get when I try to do the install from the download center:
OS Description = Windows 7 - x64 Service Pack 1
TimeZone = Pacific Daylight Time
Initial LCID = 1033
Package Version = 10.0.30319

- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Runtime - 10.0.30319

I have the exact same problem the update fails. I also have Windows 7 64bit. Did you manage to resolve the problem?

I ran across the same issue. For those who may run across this thread as a result of a google search, you may find the following blog helpful: http://chandrakumar.in/technical/55-technical/30-visual-c-team-blog-.html. Scroll down a little ways to the "Visual Studio 2010 RTM with Windows SDK" entry. In short, quoting from the blog:
If you have Visual Studio 2010 RTM and Windows SDK 7.1 installed on an x64 machine, then the Visual Studio 2010 update (KB2455033) fails to install on your machine.
The workaround for this issue:
- Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the package “Microsoft Visual C++ compilers 2010 Standard – enu – x64”
- Try installing KB2455033 again
