I have a new Windows 7 64bit PC, HP Compact w/4 gig memory and duo core processor. I installed a top name firewire card - SIIG DP FireWire 2-Port PCIe. My PC has all the latest patches installed from Microsoft. I have even run FixIT to make sure Media Player doesn't have corrupt files, unregistered dll's, etc.
NOTE: PCIe as to just PCI - why because TigerDirect was all ready to sell me a PCI card until I said I had a $20 credit, then suddenly the low profile card he originally selected wasn't the right one, I needed the more expensive one which turned out to be a PCIe (mini bus card). Not sure if this could play into my issue so I'm noting it.
When my video imports (via Video Import program) I can see in the view-finder window that it's running at a normal speed. However, when I play it back using Gallery, Media Player, or Movie Maker they all play it back at faster speed, almost twice as fast.
I have read many forum posting and yet to see a solution for this. I have tried pulling up the IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers (Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller) and installing the Legacy driver as well as the another driver listed, but this didn't help.
On my WinXP system I used this same digital video camera for years and imported videos just fine into Movie Maker. In fact if I play any of the old .avi files I imported on my XP system those play back at a perfectly normal speed on Win7. So I know the issue isn't something like "adjust playback speed" because any video I playback is at the right speed unless it's a video I import from my camera.
