Unable to initialize DirectX Error: failed to initialize DirectX

Original title : Unable to initialize DirectX

My warcraft 3 copy can't run since a few months ago and its been really bugging me. Here's the error.

However im pretty sure I have direct x 11.

Thus begin my googling to try to find a solution. most of it tells the user to update the drivers to the latest version. I did but the problem still persist.

Then i realize that my laptop is using intel HD graphics instead of my geforce. I was wondering if its cause intel doesn't support direct x 11 and previously perhaps i was running geforce in order to play warcraft 3.

I double check in the device manger to ensure geforce is there.

Thus being another googling search for solutions and what they wrote is to disable/uninstall/enable/reinstall the drivers.

I did that too BUT the problem still persist~

I also double check my nvidia settings in the control panel and all seems alright to me.

So what gives? anyone have any idea?

Answer
You would need to check the downloads page for your laptop, if its available it should be listed, but it not always is.

Did you check for the Hybrid SLI option in the power settings?
One thing to keep in mind is that if the option is not listed, the drivers for it are not installed in which case you can check the manufacturers website.

With regards to my previous steps to disable the Intel card, you may also check to verify that the nVidia card is enabled. If it was disabled, try enabling it and then disable the Intel once more.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you haven't used enough.
