Windows 7 weather gadget changes location by itself

Hi,

I have been using the weather gadget in Windows 7 since its release with no problems. I have two of them on my desktop, one for showing the weather for Kecskemét, Hungary, the other for Szeged, Hungary.

But a few weeks ago, the Kecskemét one changed by itself to Hetényegyháza, the Szeged one to Algyő. Both are small towns just next to the cities I want to show the weather for. At first I managed to change them back, but after a few days, it changed itself again, and now if I search for my cities, it returns these small towns instead of them.

What could cause this?

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community forums.

Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

Try the following methods and check if weather gadgets work fine.

Method 1:

This may be caused due to the corruption of the gadget.

You may try restoring the gadget.

To do so:

1. Right click on the gadget.

2. Go to Properties.

3. At the bottom of the window you will find a tab to Restore Gadgets Installed with Windows, click on it.

This will restore it back to the default setting. This should get your weather Gadget working.

Method 2:
You may try these steps and check.
a) Right click on the gadget and click on options.
b) Type the location in “Select current location and press enter.”
c) Press OK.

Method 3:
If the issue persists then you may uninstall and reinstall the Weather gadget and check if it helps.
