build 15.17.0.151206 killed my office 365 for Mac

So I've had a weird experience today.  Office 365 rolled out build 151206 today and, like usual, I upgraded.  After installation, Outlook works, but all the other apps (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote) all come up with a similar error:

If I drill down, I get a huge long error file, the first part of which is:

Microsoft Error Reporting log version: 2.0

I spent some time with the support folks and they were convinced that I needed to delete Office and reinstall.  So I laboriously chased down all the various pieces of office and deleted them. (Did I say completely removing Office from a Mac is a horrible experience?) Reinstalled and got exactly the same error.

So I did it all again to make sure I didn't forget anything.  In addition, I deauthorized my mac from my office 365 subscription, downloaded the dmg file again and reinstalled again.

Same error.  Interesting enough outlook still works, but my office 365 subscription doesn't show my mac as an authorized computer any more.  I suspect that this si somehow related to the license aspect.

Anyone having similar experiences with this new build or do I just get to be special?

Jeff.

Hi,

I upgraded to the latest 15.18.0 version today. Excel as well as Outlook, Word and Powerpoint are working fine.

Thanks
